Places to get Culture
There are six art galleries, which include Art Gallery of York University
that is publicly-funded, which specializes in exhibits of recent, innovative
Canadian and international art. Also, there is Glendon Gallery that is the
only fully bilingual gallery in Toronto, which emphasizes Francophone artistic
expression.
Every year, Campus Theater Groups organize many different plays that are
part of the drama course. These plays are conducted in English and French.
Among these theater groups are Theater@York and Theater Glendon.
Theatre @ York is the Production Company of the Department of Theatre at
York University.
Every year, Canada's most talented stage performers are featured in the
plays that are drawn from contemporary and classical collection. Theater@York
holds these shows.
Toronto and Canadian premieres are often seen on the playbill, which ranges
from challenging new North American works to the enduring masterpieces of
Molière and Shakespeare.
Theatre @ York productions showcase the performance, directing and
production talents of undergraduate and graduate students in York's Theatre
Department - the next generation of outstanding Canadian theatre artists.
