When will I hear if I was granted admission?
After receiving your application and payment, we will ship you a letter
acknowledging receipt. Along with that letter there will be a York student
reference number that can be used to check the status of your application
online.
If we decide upon your application we will send you a letter letting you
know that the decision has been made. Within this letter there will be
guidelines for your next steps, like how to enroll in the particular course
or program and how to pay the course enrollment fees.
What courses are offered by you?
We have a complete list of undergraduate courses available and you
can review them by going online. Although you'll see we offer a wide selection
of courses, there are restrictions and there is no guarantee for course
enrolment.
Can I take any courses I want?
No, Visiting Students cannot enroll into Engineering courses
or any courses offered through the Schulich School of Business. To enroll
in a Fine Arts studio course, you might require a permission letter from
the department conducting that course. For enrolling into graduate courses,
you require permission from the appropriate Graduate Program Director
and the Dean of Graduate Studies.
Am I guaranteed enrolment in the courses I want to take?
No, your application for admission has nothing to do with course enrolment.
There are limited seats available in all our courses. So if you don't
want to be disappointed and to if you want to make sure that you get a
good opportunity to enroll in the course(s) of your choice, try to apply
as early as possible.
How do I pay my course fees? When are they due?
To get information about the account status and fee payment information,
logon to the Office of Student Financial Services Web site. A $450 enrolment
deposit is due within five business days of enrolling in a course. Failing
to do so, you will be de-enrolled. The balance is due on receipt of your
financial statement, which is generally due at the beginning of the academic
term.
Do I need to re-apply for each session?
Depends on the situation. Yes, if you are applying on a Letter of Permission.
No, if you hold a degree from another university and have been admitted
as a Visiting Student for the prior session. The only thing you
can do is to contact the Registrar's Office and make a request that your
file should be reactivated.
I took some courses at York as a Visiting Student. Now I want them applied
to a York degree. Can I?
Yes, but only if you re-apply for admission as a degree student.
